Bordeaux Striker Josh Maja Rohr as expressed delights over his meeting with super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr in France on Tuesday
The London born striker who’s father is a Nigerian as already featured for the Super Eagles in a high profile International friendly against Ukraine last year which ended in a 2-2 stalemate, despite the Eagles leading by 2-0 with some minutes to go.
Though he featured for just a couple of minutes, Maja was however not included in the 23-man-team that Nigeria parades at the 2019 African cup of nations in Egypt, that saw the Super Eagles wining the bronze medal after loosing to Algeria in the semifinals in a dramatic encounter in Cairo.
But with the race to qualify for the 2021 African Cups of Nations in Cameroon set to resume in March with Nigeria set to play back to back matches against Sierra-Leone and Lesotho Coach Rohr has been monitoring and visiting players which he intends to invite for the upcoming fixtures.
Pictured alongside Rohr at the Bordeaux training ground Maja was beaming with smiles and speaking later, the 25 year old center forward said it was an emotional moment for him to be with Super Eagles gaffer who is a legend of Bordeaux. He noted that he will gladly honor any invitation to play for the Nigerian Senior team at the shortest notice.
“I am happy to be with my National team coach and will be ready to play for my country when called upon. It’s a great honor and I’m oreviledge to be here with him on this ground where he once played for this great Bordeaux club” , Maja said
