Just a month ago, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s future was uncertain, particularly after Napoli’s disappointing season, which saw them finish 10th in the league. This underwhelming performance came a year after the Partenopei’s unexpected league title win, in which Kvaratskhelia played a pivotal role.

Recent reports indicate that Kvaratskhelia has agreed in principle to a new contract with Napoli, likely to be finalized after the current European Championship.

This news is a major setback for Barcelona, who had expressed interest in Kvaratskhelia earlier in the year, as confirmed by his agent. However, Kvaratskhelia was never a realistic option for Barcelona this summer. Napoli’s president, Aurelio de Laurentiis, insisted that any club wishing to sign Kvaratskhelia would need to pay at least €100 million, a price Barcelona couldn’t afford given their financial constraints. Consequently, Barcelona will now focus on more attainable targets such as Nico Williams, who could be available for around €60 million.
