Super Eagles midfielder Alhassan Yusuf has completed a move to Major League Soccer side New England Revolution from Belgian club Royal Antwerp.

The Americans officially announced his arrival on their instagram page with the caption: “Welcome Alhassan Yusuf! 🇳🇬”.

Alhassan Yusuf officially announced as a New England Revolution player.

The 24 year-old signed a three-and-a-half-year contract with the option of an additional year with the Eastern Conference club who are in a difficult situation as they sit bottom of the table.

The energetic midfielder posted a video message to supporters of his new club and will join up with the American club on receipt of his P-1 visa International Transfer Certificate.

He will occupy one of the team’s international roster spots and was able to be signed due to the ‘season-ending injury replacement’ mechanism as the Revs’ Argentine winger Tomas Chancalay sustained an anterior cruciate ligament injury in June which ruled him out for the rest of the campaign.

MLS allows clubs to make one annual replacement player signing using the injured player mechanism, provided the player designation has been formally made prior to the secondary transfer window, which opened in July.

Yusuf could make his debut when New England Revolution are away to CF Montreal on the 25th of August.
