As a lengthy FIFA ban nears its completion, Super Eagles legend Samson Siasia is reportedly weighing up an offer from Nigeria National League (NNL) side Mighty Jets to become their manager.

The former Super Eagles head coach was initially given a lifetime ban in 2019 after his alleged involvement in match-fixing before a ruling by the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) reduced that ban to 5 years in June 2021.

Samson Siasia then as Super Eagles head coach during an African Cup of Nations Group G qualifier between Egypt and Nigeria at the Borg el-Arab Stadium in Alexandria on March 29, 2016.

Siasia will be free to return to the dugout at the end of August and according to a source close to the situation, the inaugural Nigeria Premier Football League title winners have made an offer of ₦10 million per month as the Jos-based club look to bring in his wealth of experience.

“I can confirm that Mighty Jets have tabled an offer to the coach [Samson Siasia] and the coach appears willing and interested in taking the job”, the source disclosed to Soccernet.

There has been a lot of speculation around his future as Siasia edges closer to a return to football management.

While many have linked him with a possible return to the Super Eagles, the offer from Mighty Jets could be an opportunity for Siasia to re-establish himself in Nigerian football and make a significant impact at the domestic level.

The former winger made his mark at French club FC Nantes where he played an instrumental role in helping the team secure the Ligue 1 title during the 1994/1995 season.

The 56 year-old was appointed Super Eagles coach in 2010 and in charge for one year before his reappointment in 2016.

While in charge of Nigeria’s U20 football team, Siasia won the African Youth Championship in 2005 and led the same side to the final of the 2005 U-20 World Cup in The Netherlands where they unluckily lost to Argentina.

Siasia also made his mark as the head coach of the Nigeria U-23 team, guiding them to a silver medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and later securing bronze at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
