Nigerian international defender Benjamin Tanimu has joined EFL League One side Crawley Town from Tanzanian club Singida Black Stars formerly Ihefu FC.
The 22 year-old centre back signed a two-year contract with the Sussex club for a reported fee close to £650,000.
The former Bendel Insurance player made his professional debut for the Edo State based NPFL side on the 27th of January 2019 as a 16 year-old in a 0-0 draw against Niger Tornadoes.
He spent six years at Bendel Insurance before transferring to Singida Black Stars in February this year and in six months, earned his move to England which represents noteworthy progress in his career so far.
Tanimu made his international debut for Nigeria in a 2-1 friendly win over arch rivals Ghana in March under previous head coach Finidi George and has been capped three times.
He was called up by current interim coach Augustine Eguavoen to replace injured Fenerbahçe right back Bright Osayi-Samuel.
He is amongst 20 players that have arrived at the Super Eagles training camp ahead of Nigeria’s 2025 AFCON qualifier against Benin Republic on Saturday the 7th of September in Uyo.
