Interim Super Eagles coach Augustine Eguavoen has once again named a strong squad list for the 2025 AFCON qualifying double header against Libya.

Despite speculation linking other candidates with the Nigerian national team job, the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) technical director Eguavoen has remained in charge pending the appointment of a new substantive coach.

The fixtures are set to take place over the this week, with the first match in Uyo and the return encounter in Benghazi.

A notable absentee from the 23-man list is on-loan Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen who sustained a tight strain which will rule him out for a month.

The 25 year-old scored his first goal for the Turkish giants last weekend in a 3-3 draw against Kasimpasa during which he sustained the injury to his left leg.

Another player missing is Orlando Pirates centre back Olisa Ndah who suffered an injury two weeks ago against Polokwane City in a Betway Premiership match.

There will be a return for Sevilla attacking midfielder Chidera Ejuke after a two-year absence from the national team.

The squad also includes Amas Obasogie, who has recently moved to Ethiopian Premier League side Kasil Fenema, and Benjamin Tanimu of English League One side Crawley Town.

Nigeria will play the first leg of this crucial qualifier against the Mediterranean Knights at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on Friday, the 11th of October.

The Super Eagles will then travel to Benghazi for the second leg at the Martyrs of Benina Stadium on Tuesday, the 15th of October.

The Super Eagles currently top their qualification group with four points after a dominant 3-0 win over Benin and a hard-fought goalless draw against Rwanda in Kigali during the international window last month.
